A Wind Farm Becomes Digital – a Case Report on a Cloud-based Data Lake for Sensor Data
A complete Big Data platform was set up in the Microsoft Azure Cloud for the analysis of measured values from wind turbines. In addition to HDInsight with Apache Spark, Apache Hive and the Azure Blob Store, an event hub, a stream-based data extraction along with loading solution based on StreamSets are used. This provides a complete, traceable data flow, from the determination of data from various sources to storage in a uniform format to more complex transformations and data blending – a complete, model-driven data integration. What is special about the solution is that all processes are fully modelled and generated in biGENIUS. The presentation shows how the technology is being used based on a real-world use case.

Using Data Warehouse Automation in Customer Journey Analytics in Health Insurance
SWICA is one of the leading health and accident insurers in Switzerland with around 1.4 million insured persons and 27,000 corporate customers. The excellent customer satisfaction is, among other things, the result of continuous investments in the improvement of customer-related processes. SWICA has been piloting customer journey processes along defined points of contact since 2017. This is supported by a DWH, which makes the necessary data available for all relevant departments. A DWH Automation tool is used to set up the DWH solution. The presentation will show how a small team succeeded in setting up the DWH solution and further developing it with an agile development process.

Data Modelling with Data Vault: Practical Challenge
Data Vault is now widely used as a modelling method in data warehouse projects. Although its basic principles are simple, there are some hurdles that should not be underestimated. Practical examples from various customer projects show which challenges arise and how they can be solved. How to find the right business key and what are the consequences if an unsuitable key is used? How can data inconsistencies between different data sources be identified and dealt with? When and why can a ping-pong effect occur and why should multi-valued satellites be avoided? And how can modern automation tools provide support in Data Vault projects across the entire lifecycle of analytical data management solutions?
